University of Evansville (Evansville, IN)
The University of Evansville is interesting option because it combines the tight-knit community and undergraduate focus of a liberal arts college with the wide-ranging pre-professional majors and cooperative education opportunities of a research university. Despite having only 3000 students (2900 of which are undergraduates), U of E offers a huge number of majors including engineering, accounting and nursing, as well as renowned English, theatre and physical therapy programs. In addition, U of E boasts of excellent study abroad opportunities, including their own program at Harlaxton College, a huge, beautiful castle they own 90 miles north of London. Social life is centered around the compact and attractive campus, while Evansville, a city about the size of Chattanooga, offers attractions as well. Merit aid is often generous.
