Butler University (Indianapolis, IN)
Butler is a small university of about 4,000 undergraduates which averages a very large diversity of majors for its size. Especially strong programs are business, communication and health sciences, such as pharmacy and physician's assistant. Butler even offers a unique 3-2 engineering program with IUPUI that allows students remain in Butler dormitories as they complete their degrees. The campus is very attractive with a nice combination of new facilities and older buildings, including the fieldhouse where the movie "Hoosiers" was filmed. The university has a big emphasis on internships, which are readily available in nearby downtown Indianapolis. The school itself is located in a very safe and desirable residential neighborhood, with the Broad Ripple section of restaurants, stores and bars nearby. Broad Ripple high school is, by the way, the alma mater of illustrious celebrities like Marilyn Quayle, David Letterman and Mr. Bill Royer. Butler would be a great school to consider for students already interested in small to medium universities like Elon, Evansville, Tulane and SMU. R,B,K
